We meet to walk together an ancient road to the present moment:
stretching open body, heart & mind to greet the day in freedom,
growing warm and strong, with clear compassion for all beings...
Bluestem, the prairie grass that ranges across most of our beautiful country, including the fields around my home here just south of Boulder....
The ancient practice of yoga has come to us through India, but it very much belongs to our heritage as humans on Earth. It is as natural a response to the human experience as this grass is to the prairieland. As I have come to understand and approach it, yoga is most simply the art of the great joy of being.
Bluestem... also like the central axis of the body toward which we draw our attention in practice... many who have had clear visions in meditation tell us that the color of consciousness is blue. It's a blue planet too, all about the personality of water...
Sangha is the Buddhist word for "community of practitioners". It's a rich term that resonates with my aims and sense of responsibility as a teacher, and one of the things I greatly appreciate as a student of yoga as well. It is in our case an open community - there are no required activities or subscriptions. A space is created for this powerful, beautiful, liberating practice. The practice itself develops our natural awareness, enjoyment of, and compassion toward ourselves and each other
If you have an event to share with the Sangha, please paste it into our comments box& I'll post it asap. Kimj
